The simple outlines of the tabouret reflect Charlotte Perriand's passion for organic shapes and natural materials. The main source of inspiration was the traditional architecture and furniture of the Alpine villages (hence the name Berger - French "shepherd"). The low version, presented for the first time at the Synthèse des arts exhibition in Tokyo, combines a sculptural organic form with a strong Japanese influence. This size only contributed to the success of the model: in addition to its main function in the interior, it could serve as a coffee or side table.
